Au cours du 3ème trimestre de l’année scolaire, fin mars et mai 2023, les classes de 5e3 et 5e4 se sont rendues à l’Hôtel de Ville de Paris pour découvrir l’exposition PARIS CAPITALES qui célébrait l’arrivée du Street Art en France il y a 60 ans. Munis de questionnaires, les élèves ont arpenté l’exposition de manière autonome et ont pu se familiariser avec les différentes techniques de street art (graffiti, pochoir, photographies, collages…) et (re)découvrir des artistes de street art contemporains. STREET ART EXHIBITION A school trip to Paris townhall* on March 20th 2023 On Monday March 20th, the class of 5e3 went on a school trip to see an exhibition called, CAPITALES, 60 YEARS OF STREET ART. The exhibition was about street art and it took place at the Paris townhall. To get there, we took the subway from "château rouge" metro stop on Line 4. It lasted thirthy minutes. Then, we stopped at the "châtelet" station. During the exhibition, we discovered street art artists like Jérôme Mesnager, Bando, Zeus, Shepard Fairey ,YZ, Invaders, Banksy, Reso or JR. We saw artworks, paintings, graffitis and we discovered street art techniques likes photography, stencil* or spray painting. Bansky's technique is stencil whereas JR's technique is graffiti. Yseult divan is a contemporary female street artist. At the end of the exhibition, the class created graffiti on a digital board. After that, we took a picture in front of the townhall. During the Capitale(s) exhibition, we learned many things on street art. Everyone thinks it was really good. We discovered artists and new street art techniques. STREET ART HISTORY IN FRANCE Street art is a form of art but it started on walls or on subways. Street Art artists use different techniques like stencil, mosaic or 3D. In France, graffiti started in the 1980s, in locations like fences around the Louvre museum ("palissades du Louvre") or in Stalingrad waste grounds ("terrains vagues"), in the 19th district in Paris. BBC and ASH were 2 French graffiti crews*. In 1982s the street art arived in France. The first technics is spray paint whit stencil. FOCUS on contemporary street art artists The artist INVADER created Space Invaders on city walls. In Paris there are 1475 space invaders and in the world there are 4000 space invaders. Invader used mosaic. He is an French artist. At the end of the exhibitions we drew SPACE INVADERS on exhibition notebooks. We liked his work. Banksy use the stencil* technique. ZEUS draws traffic lights in the streets and uses their shadows* in his artwork "It was very interesting. The artworks were beautiful. My favorite artwork was Kamayura by the artist Swoon. Elyssa's favorite artworks was Kashink. It was so original." Elyssa and Anna, 5e3 "My favourite artist is Banksy because I like graffiti and stencil." Bayrem, 5e3 "This was a great exhibition! I liked it and I liked Zeus’ traffic lights too". Darius, 5e3 "I liked it because there were my favorite artists in the exhibition and I took photos of them".
