We got to meet Jonathan Dee, author of The Locals and The Privileges, which we had previously read, for a Q & A session. We got the inside perspective of what it means to be a writer and it was fascinating to hear the events and thoughts that inspired his books. He also explained the different aspects of publishing and the decisions you have to make during that process as well how he constructs his characters and compared the process to “the construction of a bird’s nest”.

We then divided into groups and visited some exhibitions that surrounded the main building before going to have a picnic at the Parc Floral.

We then walked around the small flower exhibition before heading to see a documentary on the history of First Nations which allowed us to discover the hardships they went through, as the Terminales were involved in a translation battle against St Michel de Picpus. The professional translator was very impressed by their performance and engagement.
