Le voyage

JOUR 1 : découverte de Londres : le quartier de Westminster au son du carillon de Big Ben , Whitehall, 10 Downing Street - on pose aussi devant les cavaliers de la garde royale, on en apprend plus sur Nelson en haut de sa colonne à Trafalgar Square - Piccadilly Circus, China Town puis Covent Garden pour une pause "fish and chips".

L'après-midi, on écarquille les yeux devant les richesses du Science Museum et on s'essaie à des expériences scientifiques au "launchpad". La journée se conclut par une course effrénée le long de Hyde Park avec un bref arrêt à Buckingham Palace pour arriver à l'heure à Westminster Pier où le bateau-mouche n'allait pas nous attendre ! Enfin, on peut se relaxer le temps d'une croisière sur la Tamise : the London Eye, the Globe, the Shard, St Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London , Tower Bridge ... tout est là, sous un soleil radieux.

Plus tard, les élèves un peu intimidés font connaissance avec leur famille-hôtesse à Mottingham, au sud ouest de Londres. L'accueil est chaleureux et tout se passera bien ...

 

 JOUR 2 : Viste de l'immense et superbe Twickenham Stadium, de ses coulisses et ses vestiaires, avec un guide passionné et amusant.Tour au musée du stade qui retrace l'Histoire du rugby, et propose de multiples installations pour s'essayer à ce sport .

 

 

 

 

 

 

L'après-midi, deux heures d'initiation au cricket avec un coach très pro, plein d'energie et d'humour, Peter Wellings. Une belle découverte sportive et culturelle sous le signe de la bonne humeur et de l'esprit d'équipe.

 

JOUR 3 : direction Cambridge, et la beauté de ses Colleges. Quelle tranquillité après l'ébullition londonnienne ! Visite du St John's College, un peu de shopping dans les rues piétonnes de la ville, puis beaucoup de farniente lors du "punting"sur la rivière Cam, avec un beau soleil et des vues magnifiques. On termine la journée par un peu d'exercice : les 123 marches de la Tour St Mary pour y admirer le panorama.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 JOUR 4 : direction Brighton. Sous un soleil radieux (qui a dit qu'il pleuvait sans cesse en Angleterre ?) , on profite de la plage : ricochets sur les vagues, passes de rugby sur les galets, et même baignade pour les plus courageux !

 

 

 

Après un moment passé à la fête foraine sur Brighton Pier, on pique-nique entourés des mouettes, puis on part visiter le Royal Pavilion, palais étonnant et splendide à l'architecture indienne et à la décoration chinoise.

 

 Un peu de temps libre dans "the Lanes", dîner au pub puis il est déjà temps de prendre le chemin du retour, vers le port de Douvres cette fois. La traversée en ferry enthousiasme plus qu'elle ne rend malade, et c'est tant mieux ! Les dernières heures dans le car se font de nuit, alors on dort, on récupère de ces dernières journées bien remplies, avant d'arriver au petit matin au collège. Les parents eux aussi semblent ravis de ce voyage, et de retrouver leurs enfants enchantés.

Les accompagnateurs - Mme Andrieu, Mme Laisné, Mme Trottet et Mehdi - sont très fiers d'avoir encadré un groupe d'élèves aussi gentils, enthousiastes et curieux de tout.

"The first day was the hardest : we left at 0.30 and we arrived at 9.30. Many people couldn't sleep, including me. We were so tired ... but we still walked and visited London. "This trip to England is one of the most interesting and beautiful trips I've ever done ! My favourite moment was the cruise on the Thames because we could see a lot of famous monuments.
